About the event
All Island Best Speaker Junior (AIBS Jr. 2026) is one of Sri Lanka's largest school level public speaking competitions, organized by the Colombo Gavel Club, an affiliate of Toastmasters International.
Inspired by the legacy of the All Island Best Speaker competition that has shaped leading communicators for over three decades, AIBS Jr. aims to discover and develop the next generation of confident speakers and leaders.
The competition provides students aged 12–19 from schools across Sri Lanka with a platform to strengthen communication, critical thinking, and leadership skills under internationally recognized standards. With almost a 1,000 expected participants and a nationwide reach, AIBS Jr. is more than a competition, it is a movement dedicated to empowering the voices that will shape Sri Lanka's future.

Colombo Gavel ClubThe Colombo Gavel Club is one of Sri Lanka's most prestigious youth leadership and public speaking organizations, operating as an affiliate of Toastmasters International. Founded in 2008 and guided by the Colombo Toastmasters Club, the first Toastmasters club in South Asia, the club has spent over 17 years empowering young people to become confident communicators and inspiring leaders.
With more than 65 members aged 12–18 representing leading government, private, and international schools across the country, the club provides a platform for developing communication, leadership, and critical thinking skills. Its members have consistently excelled in national speech and evaluation contests and have gone on to become head prefects, debating leaders, MUN presidents, sports captains, and changemakers within their communities.
Beyond regular educational meetings, the Colombo Gavel Club organizes large-scale initiatives such as All Island Best Speaker Junior (AIBS Jr.), open mic events, joint meetings, and leadership programs, continuing its mission of nurturing the next generation of Sri Lanka's leaders.
